Hi, im applying for Tafsa, but the person helping me filling this form is telling me that in order to qualify my parents have to file taxes, i live with my mom and little brother, my mom cannot file taxes because she does not have papers either. But my aunt files taxes for my little brother. he was born in TX. someone can please explain me if this is true? what are some options i have to continue with this? or there is no way i can apply for Tafsa?

Even if your mom doesn't have papers she can file taxes; as a matter of fact she sould file taxes. She should be assigned a tax ID number. She will obviously not get any money back, in fact, she might have to end up paying money herself depending on how much money she earned for the year. Doing so will help her prove that, within her illegal status, she is trying to stay as legal as possible in case there was to be an amnesty or anything like that.
