Money for study abroad
April 26, 2011 03:43AM
I recently got accepted to study abroad in Greece for the month of June through July. This trip is expensive, so I went to talk to the financial aid office in my college. They informed me that financial aid will only cover the cost of my course. I applied to the Stocs scholarship and got denied. Can you give me an advice on what to do. I am worried because I might not be able to go. Thank you for your time.

Shirley,

You should ask the financial aid office to direct you to scholarships, specifically for study abroad students.

You should also do some research with www.google.com or www.yahoo.com. Type in "scholarships for study abroad." Check out the following links:

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship - [www.iie.org]

I would also encourage you to look into other ways to raise money for yourself. Check out our website and go to the category, paying for school (top right hand corner.) Check out Unconventional Ways to Pay for College. One idea is to write a letter or e-mail campaign to send to family and friends asking them to make a small donation to fund your trip.

Please feel free to message us back!

Good luck!
