Parents calling immigration on other parents
February 18, 2011 04:32AM
I'm a teacher at a high school in Texas. Lately, every time we have a parent meeting, a group of parents from the district calls immigration to come and verify that the parents in attendance have papers. Is there a way to stop this behavior? School is supposed to be a safe place and by law, nobody can ask kids or their parents their immigration status. So, this is not right. I just wonder if you could advice me on how to proceed. Thanks!

Lucy,

We have forwarded this message to immigration lawyer, Elsie C. Vasquez. We will post her response within a few days.

Thank you for your patience!
