'ALPFA is the premier Latino organization for professionals and students in business, finance, accounting, and related  professions. ALPFA creates opportunities, adds value, builds relationships for its members, the community  and its business partners while expanding Latino leadership in the global workforce. In 2008 ALPFA merged with NHBA to become the largest collegiate chapter based Latino Association in the country with a presence in over 80 campuses across the country.<br /><br />The Students of ALPFA program expands opportunities for students who seek careers in Accounting, Finance and related fields of business by empowering them to develop as leaders through the management of student chapters, delivering quality student programs focused on professional development, providing access to the industry’s network of professional members and sponsors, offering access to scholarship programs and creating opportunities to network with other students. Student membership is open to aspiring college students interested in accounting, finance or related career professions.<br /><br /> Local programs and events vary by chapter, so, be sure to check out the ALPFA chapter sites for more detailed information.<br /><br />Student Members are entitled to significant discounts on national convention registration fees. National student programs and events are centered around the Annual Convention and include:<br /><br />ALPFA’s Annual Scholarship Program<br />Developed to encourage students who have demonstrated academic excellence to continue pursuing their professional careers. The  scholarships available to students, in the US or Puerto Rico, who are pursuing undergraduate/graduate studies.  Over the past 4 years, ALPFA has awarded students over $587,000 in scholarship money.<br /><br />ALPFA Internship and Leadership Program<br />This program has been designed specifically to foster professional development, training career growth, and leadership skills through the successful completion of internships among Latino students pursuing careers in finance, accounting and related fields of business.<br /><br />Students receive early exposure to their career interest, networking opportunities, and professional/academic support through education in internships.<br /><br />The basic program includes educational workshops, a networking luncheon, and an internship career fair with corporate sponsors. For sponsoring companies, the program provides early identification of talent, direct access to university students, and provides a pipeline where recruiters can offer guidance to students through the internship process.<br /><br />There are many other opportunities for student members, from participating in the KPMG Case Study Competition to student workshops and the annual career fair and expo.'
